PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION
Antifutures are futures´s images that doesn´t belong in time and place. We are populated of misplaced alternative futures around our public conversations, media, research and communities that affect our learning and decision-making, in particular on systemic issues. In the next billion seconds we´re designing our lastest set of alternative to confront the climate and epistemical emergencies, assuming an intergenerational and biospheric risk on human´s imaginations and designs. I offer some examples from Latin America to illustrate the impact of antifutures on areas like energy, cities and labor. I complete the rant with some elements to identify and resist antifutures.
A detailed manuscript exploring the notion, in which the talk will be based can be read in here.
